About us

Started by friends in Perth after the 2015 earthquake.

We Care Nepal Inc is a not for profit, non-religious charity run by members of Perth's Nepali community.

Our story

It began with a social media appeal.

On 25 April 2015 a major earthquake hit Nepal. Two of our members, Ujjwal and Anita, posted an appeal for help online and flew to Nepal at their own cost. They handed out food, water and medical supplies to people who had lost their homes.

Back in Perth, Manoj, Namrata, Babita, Kamal, Bibhushit and Basanta organised charity events to keep money flowing to the relief work. By July 2015 the group had registered as We Care Nepal Inc.

We still work the same way. We raise money at events in Western Australia and send it to people in Nepal who need it.

How we work

Four rules we stick to.

All profit goes to aid

Every dollar of profit from our events and donations is spent on aid in Nepal.

Local partners, strict terms

We only work with Nepali NGOs and school committees that agree to deliver to the people who really need it.

We turn up in person

Our members go to each school for the handover. We see where the money went with our own eyes.

Open to everyone

We are a non-religious charity. You don't need to be Nepali to volunteer or come to an event.

The people behind it

Our founding members.

These are the eight people who got We Care Nepal going in 2015. Two flew to Nepal and six raised money from Perth.
